Waterfront Renaissance in Old Town Alexandria

Hotel IndigoThe waiting is over and the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria is changing. After six years of contentious fighting, the waterfront renaissance is coming to life. The Hotel Indigo opened in early May. It’s a 120-room hip boutique hotel owned by Carr Hospitality. Although it’s open, the outdoor areas are still being finished off. We are excited about the “upscale casual” restaurant Hummingbird by well-known Alexandria chef and restaurateur Cathal Armstrong.

Just across the street from the Hotel Indigo is a hub of construction activity which will become Robinson Landing, a mixed-use transformation of three acres right on the Potomac. There will be luxury condos, elevator townhomes and projected “fine dining and retail shopping”. This project is being developed by EYA. Let us know if you are interested in purchasing a home in this development–we’ll get you all the details you need and assist you throughout the process.

Just around the corner, on the Strand-by Chadwicks-the new home for the Old Dominion Boat Club is going up. The old space will become Fitzgerald Square, a public plaza at the foot of King Street which will connect to the waterfront park which will be completed over the next decade at an estimated 120 million dollars. We can’t wait to see the finished product!
